Fax Imaging

Areas of usage

Many businesses are demanded to monitor all outgoing and incoming fax transactions. This is provided by capturing and recording all phone (fax) calls with following fax images retrieving from audio records.

Technical requirements

Fax Imaging is Windows environment DLL for conversion audio file into TIFF format file with facsimile images. Fax Imaging stores converted images and retrieves transmission parameters: rate, peer stations identifiers, compression and other. The input audio file should contain full record in one of the following formats of interaction between two fax G3 devices:

  • WAVE A/ยต-law of G.711 of 8 bits packed format;
  • WAVE PCM of 16 bits packed format.

Input should conform to G.711, V.21, V.27ter, V.29, V.17, T.30, T.4 and T.6 Recommendations, especially in relation to signal frequency, power and other specified in ITU-T recommendations parameters. The facsimile image in audio file should be coded with or without error correction mode, using one-dimensional, two-dimensional or T.6 compressions according to ITU-T T.4 and T.6 Recommendations. The power of signal in input file should be less than -5dBm. The record should include handshaking and facsimile image transmission phases; as such phases are described as Phases B, C and D of ITU-T T.30 Recommendation.

Fax Imaging has sophisticated algorithm, which in many cases allows retrieve fax images, when audio record is not full, contains no handshaking phase, is not T.30 conformant or corrupted. Implementation is highly optimized to use in medium to large logging centers with performance of many thousand images per hour.
